Regular maintenance is essential for minimizing wear, extending your printer’s lifespan, and reducing the risk of print failures. Follow this schedule to keep your Bambu Lab P1 Series printer in top condition.
Maintenance Checklist
X-axis Carbon Rods
- Clean monthly for dust and particle buildup.
- Use isopropyl alcohol and a dust-free cloth. Do not use grease.
Z-axis Lead Screws
- Check and grease every three months.
- Clean first, then apply a thin coat of lubricating grease. Move the bed to spread the grease evenly.
- Recommended lubricants: BX-300/F series grease, Super Lube 92003 Silicone Lubricating Grease with PTFE, or Lucas Oil 10533 White Lithium Grease.
Y-axis and Z-axis Linear Rods and Bearings
- Clean monthly for dust and particles (every 5 rolls if using volatile filaments like ABS/ASA).
- Perform anti-rust maintenance every three months.
- Clean with isopropyl alcohol and a dust-free cloth. After cleaning, apply a thin coat of oil/grease to prevent rust. Avoid getting IPA on the bearings.
- Recommended oil: Super Lube 52004 Synthetic Lightweight Oil.
Extruder Assembly
- Clean when dust is visible on the yellow gear.
- Use compressed air to blow dust off the yellow gear and underneath the hotend.
Filament Cutter
- Inspect every 3-5 rolls for regular filaments (PLA/PETG/ABS/PC).
- Inspect after 1-2 rolls for abrasive filaments (PA+CF/PA+GF). Replace if dull.
- Refer to the Wiki article for replacement instructions.
Hotend Silicone Sock
- Replace if worn or not securely attached.
- Remove the old sock and install a new one.
Idler Pulley
- Lubricate if squeaking noises occur during printing or XY axis movement.
- Apply a small amount of lubricating oil between the idler flange and the plastic holder. Do not add grease to belts.
- Recommended oil: Super Lube 52004 Synthetic Lightweight Oil.
Chamber Camera (Optional)
- Clean when video is blurred or visibly dirty (weekly if printing ABS).
- Gently wipe with a microfiber cloth and isopropyl alcohol, or use a q-tip.
Part Cooling Fans
- Clean weekly to remove debris or dust.
- With the printer off, use compressed air while holding the fan blades in place.
Nozzle Wiper
- Inspect before every print to ensure it’s free of debris and undamaged.
- Replace with a spare if damaged, following the Wiki guide.
Nozzle
- Clean if the surface is dirty or under-extrusion occurs (especially with carbon fiber materials).
- Remove the extruder front cover, disassemble the hotend silicone sock, heat the nozzle to 200°C, and clean with tissue, cloth, or tweezers. Refer to the video guide for cold pulling.
PTFE Tube
- Replace when worn, after about 5 rolls of abrasive materials, or 10 rolls of regular filaments.
- Refer to the Wiki for replacement information.
PTFE Tube Connector
- Replace if the PTFE tube cannot be secured, filament cannot pass through, or the connector is damaged.
- Replace the pneumatic fittings.
